A visit to the Magic Kingdom begins with a grand circle tour aboard
authentic steam trains, followed by a nostalgic trip down Main Street, U.S.A.,
aboard a horse-drawn streetcar, a fire engine or a horseless carriage. This is
America as it was nearly a hundred years ago with its glitzy cinema and Plaza
Ice Cream Parlor. At one end of the street is Town Square, with its City Hall
and tree-shaded areas for town concerts by the Walt Disney World Band. As night
falls on Main Street, U.S.A., crowds gather to watch the spectacle of the SpectroMagic Parade and as to finish off a
fun-filled day with Wishes.
Walt Disney's childhood in Marceline, Mo., inspired this re-creation of a bustling thoroughfare in early 20th
century America, complete with a vintage barbershop. Major attractions include the Walt Disney World Railroad,
a vintage steam engine that provides a scenic trip around the park with stops in Frontierland and Mickey's Toontown Fair.
A step into Harmony Barber Shop is a step back in time. Hair tonics and talcum powders line the dark burgundy shelves. The Dapper Dans barbershop quartet strolls by daily, singing melodious tunes in perfect harmony and entertaining guests with their humorous banter.
Although small and quaint, Harmony Barber Shop performs between 350 and 400 services a week. "First Haircuts" is the establishment's specialty. Young Walt Disney World guests who receive their first haircut at the Magic Kingdom barbershop are treated to many delightful surprises, from "pixie dust" and bubbles to Mickey Mouse stickers and an extra-special "My 1st Haircut" set of Mouse Ears and certificate. Haircuts for children age 12 and under are priced at just $14. An adult haircut costs $17. Beard and mustache trims are $10.
The power of a wish combines with magical moments from cherished Disney films and dazzling pyrotechnic effects to create "Wishes," the biggest, boldest fireworks show ever presented for Magic Kingdom guests at Walt Disney World Resort.
Narrated by Jiminy Cricket, who memorably served as Pinocchio's conscience in Disney's animated masterpiece, the dramatic story-in-the-sky spectacular tells a thrilling, heart-tugging story about making a wish come true.
The story of "Wishes" blends classic Disney songs and character voices with pyrotechnic effects never seen before in a Disney theme park, including several new sites for launching fireworks that create moments both breathtaking and intimate.
The nighttime parade is a moving gallery full of lighting effects that re-create pixies and peacocks, sea horses and flying horses, flower gardens and fountains, and Mickey Mouse dressed in glistening lights.
