Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, the seventh and largest of the growing collection of popular Disney ownership properties, celebrated it’s grand opening in May 2004. The “health-history-horses” theme for the resort draws on the property’s many amenities and features which were inspired in large measure by its namesake town in New York.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa lies just across the lake from the magical metropolis of Downtown Disney. From its colorful Victorian architecture to the influence of horse racing, this lakeside community recaptures the heyday of upstate New York country retreats in the late 1800s. The resort features a full-service spa, a neighborhood eatery and market, a spectacular rockwork theme pool with slide, recreation, water-shuttle service to Downtown Disney and convenient access to Disney’s Lake Buena Vista golf course

The vacation Villas within each of the Resort's 6 sections—The Springs, The Paddock, Congress Park, The Carousel, The Grandstand and the Treehouse Villas—offer many comforts of home, such as full kitchens and washer and dryers, with charming Victorian touches. The 3-bedroom grand Villas are large enough to sleep up to 12 people—ideal for large groups, like family reunions.

 Activities and Recreation

High Rock Spring Pool is the feature pool at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. Located near The Carriage House lobby and reception area, the 161,000 gallon, heated High Rock Spring Pool has a unique waterslide. Beautiful rockwork with cascading water surround the zero-entry pool, meaning there are no stairs into the water; the entry into the pool is gradual. The play area offers kids the chance to interact with a Donald Duck water sculpture. Nearby are 2 whirlpool hot tubs. Disney-trained lifeguards are on duty during High Rock Spring Pool hours. Additional pools are found in The Grandstand, The Paddock and Congress Park sections of the Resort.

Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is located near Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. Tee times may be made in advance by calling the Master Starter at (407) WDW-GOLF or (407)-939-4653). Rates include greens fee and use of an electric golf cart. Rental clubs and private lessons are available.

 Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs

Guests of The Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa can choose from a wide array of specialty skin and body care treatments designed to relax, renew and reinvigorate the body. Inspired by the celebrated spring waters of Saratoga and a variety of healing elements found in nature, popular treatments include a maple sugar body polish, Adirondack stone therapy massage, mineral springs hydro massage and a rosemary spring therapeutic bath.

A rich body masque of essential oils and natural clay with trace minerals, followed by a thermal wrap, a cool shower and a massage, are part of the aromatherapy treatments that use aromatic botanical essences to stimulate the senses and aid relaxation

Relaxing and restorative hydro massage therapies and treatments for young guests are some of the spas’ special offerings. Especially designed for young guests (ages 4 to 12), “My First Facial” introduces the basics of good skin care and includes a take-home skin care product. “My First Manicure” and “My First Pedicure” are other enjoyable options for younger spa guests.

Personalized treatments include:

  • Massage therapies -- Release tension and boost circulation with a heated stone massage or the spa’s signature treatment -- a combination of reflexology and Swedish massage.
  • Hydro massage therapies -- Unique to this spa, guests can wash away stress, hydrate and heal with hydro massage treatments featuring various herbs, salt scrubs and essential oils.
  • Body treatments -- Considered by some to be the ultimate spa therapy, body treatments include a paraffin treatment, herbal body scrub and a marine algae masque and wrap
  • Facials -- Choose from a selection of cleansers, moisturizers and masques that help balance, purify and replenish the skin.
  • Hand and foot treatments -- Polish off your beauty regimen with a relaxing manicure, pedicure and paraffin treatment
  • Children’s massages, mini facials, manicures and pedicures are available

Treatments can be selected individually or in a variety of packages. The Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort features private treatment rooms and separate locker facilities for men and women. Both locker areas include a steam room, sauna and indoor whirlpool. The health club features a full line of state-of-the art exercise equipment and free weights. Personal training is available.

 The No Pixie-Dust Zone

The first thing you should know, this resort is BIG! This is the largest disney vacation club property at walt disney world. The resort is actually broken into 6 different sections. Each section has its own bus stop. The main area here is called The Carriage House it is also where High Rock Spring Pool and the restaurants are located. You will need to catch a bus if going to this area or any other water or theme park.

We have always seen this resort as an "overflow" resort. The reason is because it we wanted to do a last minute trip, we knew that we could always get reservations here as our first choice would typically be full. Ironically, this resort has never been our first choice (or second or third) to stay but its not a bad choice either. It does have its problems. Due to the resort's size, traveling by bus has always been an issue especially on busier times of the year. I cant tell you how depressing it is when you are leaving the magic kingdom and come to your bus queue and its a mile long and you are carring a heavy 5 year old child who is sleeping. Not a good time. To be fair, the other queues are long as well.

It often sounds like I hate staying here and there is nothing good about this resort. Oh au contraire mon frere. The Carriage House is beautifully themed and flows nicely into High Rock Spring Pool. High Rock Spring is a typical resort pool with zero entry, a small water play area for the kids and fairly short water slide. The pool is nice but nothing to write home about. Walking to the other side of the pool is the main area for the Disney Vacation Club sales office. If you ever take the tour, this is where they bring you.

Saratoga Springs at night is dazzeling even more so if you are staying in the Congress Park section. This section is in the very back of the resort (further from the front too) but it gives you night time view of downtown disney and its night life right from your balcony. Another benefit for staying in this section, its a 5-minute walk from your room to downtown disney marketplace. During the summer, kinda hot but during the fall is a perfect time to take a stroll.

The artist point is a quick service dining area but they dont serve the typical american fare. So if you have some pickey kids (or yourself), there are not alot of "standard" choices here but it is nice to have something different too. Flatbread anyone? We have not eaten at the The Turf Club due to our theme park schedules (it was always closed by time we get back) but it does serve the more american fare like hamburgers and other items. The is table service dining which makes it more expensive than the standard burgers you get in the parks but probably tastes better too. Enjoy.
